MAINTENANCE & PROCUREMENT TECHNICIAN SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for a variety of facility maintenance responsibilities to support the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant and assumes responsibility for maintaining the physical assets of the property. This position has a special focus on the procurement, storage and preparing of parts, supplies and services tied to the maintenance of the facility.  They will also have responsibilities to aid with the maintaining, repairing, and servicing of the site’s buildings, infrastructure, and manufacturing equipment.

MAINTENANCE & PROCUREMENT TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize and keep organized the plant’s spare part so they are easy to find, access, store and stage for future maintenance work.
  • Source, price, procure, receive and store spare parts and supplies
  • Utilize our purchasing systems to make purchases, track purchase and ensure that the process to facilitate on-time vendor payment is executed.
  • Control cost by acquiring quotes and determining best prices for parts and services.
  • Coordinate with service vendors when services are needed and ensure all contractor visits are tied to a PO or are set up on a payment system.
  • Facilitate contractor training and ensuring on-site contractors understand safety and food safety expectations.
  • Participate in maintenance activities when needed including during dedicated line PM sessions
  • Utilize the CMMS system to facilitate keeping track of parts and ensuring work orders have the needed parts to execute the work.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listen for problems, and use precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Scoping out future planned maintenance work and determining what replacement parts and supplies will be needed to accomplish the work.
  • Daily interaction with plant floor employees and will work closely with engineering and other maintenance team members to support plant operations.

 

MAINTENANCE & PROCUREMENT TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years’ maintenance experience out of a manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years’ experience in purchasing, parts management, or similar procurement role
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience.
  • Experience in an agriculture industry, flour, or feed milling environment preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing experience, a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics and the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to schedule maintenance, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and repair equipment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word) as well as being skilled in using the internet for the research, sourcing and purchasing of parts and materials.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Extreme climate or climate variation.
  • Heat up to 100 degrees and lows of 40
  • Changes of >30 degrees within a shift.
  • Rotating and oscillating equipment.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, especially forklifts.
  • Standing and walking on concrete floor.
